Virginia Garst
Virginia Garst held a Commercial license and an instructor's
rating with slightly over 500 hours of flight time when she applied
for service in the British Air Transport Auxiliary. She was 23 years
old at the time of her application. She traveled to England with the
second group of American women in April of 1942. Garst left her service
to the ATA in November of 1942 due to complications from a hospital
stay during the fall of 1942.
