British Air Transport Auxiliary
Una Goodwin Una Goodwin began flying in 1929
and was an extremely active Ninety-Nine when she applied for the British
Air Transport Auxiliary. She had served as Governor of the South Central
Section from 1939 through 1940. She was the second woman in Oklahoma
to receive a Commercial pilots license. At 39 she was one of the oldest
of the women recruited by Cochran, then President of the Ninety-Nines.
Goodwin had 430 hours of logged flight time when she made application.
She traveled to England with the fourth group of American women arriving
in June of 1942. She served with the ATA until September of that same
year, only attaining the rank of Cadet. |
